Dr. Katie Hamilton was raised in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Canmore, Alberta, which helped foster her passion for healthy, active living. She competed Nationally and Internationally as an alpine ski racer before pursuing her academic studies. Katie obtained a degree in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, and was awarded the top academic honour for the program. Following graduation, she spent several months volunteering as an advocate for educational opportunities for girls in West Africa. Upon her return to Canada, Katie completed a 4 year medical degree at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC, and was once again awarded the top academic honour of her graduating class.
Dr. Hamilton believes in a patient-centered approach which emphasizes holistic care through shared-decision making. This approach helps empower her patients to achieve and optimize their health and lifestyle goals, so that they may build a sustainable foundation of wellness. She practices evidence-based medicine with a focus on clinical nutrition, lifestyle modifications/ exercise, botanical medicine/ supplements (when indicated), prescription medications (as needed) and Traditional Chinese Medicine/ acupuncture.
Dr. Hamilton recognizes that health/ illness don’t exist in isolation, and strives to assist her patients with overcoming any personal barriers to healing through support of body, mind, and spirit. She also believes in the importance of collaborating with the other medical/ healthcare practitioners involved in each patient’s care.
In addition to her general medical practice, Dr. Hamilton has a particular interest in clinical nutrition, disordered eating, mental health, sports nutrition/ recovery, women’s health (including pap smears), and healthy aging.
Dr. Hamilton is available both in person and via Telehealth, providing access to care both locally and throughout British Columbia.
Outside of the clinic, Katie is a dedicated mother, and loves immersing herself in nature and community whether through hiking, yoga, browsing the farmer’s market, or simply spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Hamilton is in good standing with the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC and a member of the BCNA and CAND.
