Shelley Read - Therapist and Aging Well Consultant provides individual counselling, grief and loss therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in greater Kitchener, Waterloo, Stratford and St. Agatha Areas.
Shelley's focus is on helping adults clearly define and reach their personal wellness goals from a holistic perspective. She uses a compassionate and strengths-based approach when working with all individuals.
Realizing that each person is unique in both their challenges and strengths, Shelley's therapy is moulded around individualized needs.
Through individual counselling sessions, Shelley will work together with you to identify and promote your strengths and resources to cope with the issues or difficulties that concern you. This is done in a safe, caring and confidential environment to explore their feelings, beliefs, values and behaviours. If you are suffering from grief and loss, Shelley will work with you and your unique situation to navigate through your loss in a healthy way. Shelley's Aging Well Consultation services are dedicated to assisting individuals and their families manage the complexities and unique concerns associated with life's transitions and the aging process.
Born and raised in the Waterloo Region Shelley holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. Growing up in the country, Shelley appreciates the calm, relaxed and peaceful atmosphere of St. Agatha where she meets with her clients. She has experience providing professional therapeutic services to clients across life stages in a variety of settings.
With many years in the field, Shelley is committed to supporting individuals and families enhance their own health and their ability to cope, adapt and thrive in difficult circumstances. She recognizes that building a trusting client/therapist relationship is the single most important indicator of a successful therapeutic process.
