The most functional and compliance worthy way to deal with this strange combination, is just to avoid cane sugar completely as fruit is healthy and it is much easier to avoid cane sugar than it is to completely avoid what is digested like fruit for example.  When this is part of your Healthy Body chemistry issue, you would avoid direct sources of cane sugar, indirect sources from contamination and ingredients that are very close analogues to cane sugar and are therefore digested in the same improper way.

INSIDERS TIPS: Most Stevia and some fructose products test positive for cane sugar. Also, especially in cold climates such as Canada, most honey tests positive for cane sugar as beekeepers feed the bees sugar water! 

Concentrated fruit juice also tends to test positive for cane sugar; meaning that not from concentrate juice would be an intolerance free alternative; but by no means a healthy drink to have for general health and insulin control and weight management! 

Other words on a label that would need to be avoided to go Cane Sugar free:

  • Sucrose
  • Glucose
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Molasses
  • Brown sugar
  • Turbinado
  • Raw sugar
  • Sucanat
  • Demerara
  • Karo Syrup
  • Sorghum
  • Invert sugars

TAKE-HOME TIP:

Use dates or date sugar to sweeten recipes such in a smoothie. Try puréeing soft dates with a little bit of warm water to make a creamy topping such as on a paleo cake. Use coconut sugar as a wonderful substitute to use in recipes in place of cane sugar in a ratio of 1:1; and the good news is that it trggers a lower spike in the blood sugars than cane sugar, meaning less worry for weight gain, energy crashes and diabetes risk.
