Conducting eye exams for children often tell the eye doctors what the children themselves cannot. In some cases, the changes are gradual and go unnoticed, but in other cases, a child may not be able to articulate their vision concerns. Children also grow at a faster pace than adults, and as a result, their eyes are ever-changing too. It’s no surprise that 1 in 4 children have vision problems – and these can affect their readiness and ability to learn.

Three-quarters of vision problems are preventable. Annual eye exams for children allows for early detection and management of certain eye conditions.

Children should have their first eye examination with your local York eye doctor as early as toddler age, and yearly routine eye exams up until the age of 19.

Our senior population tends to suffer from chronic conditions and tend to be on more medications than most other individuals. Chronic conditions such as diabetics, hypertension, and cholesterol can affect their eyes. The medications they may be taking to manage such conditions can also affect the eyes. Aging changes such as macular degeneration and cataracts can affect vision and ocular health as well.

Annual eye exams at Optometrists Dr. Pink Sidhu & Associates help preserve vision and ocular health in seniors; early detection and preventative care is once again key as leaving these conditions untreated can cause an increased risk to the patient.

Adults aged 65 years or older should undergo a routine in York eye examination every year.
