What foot, ankle and heel problems can orthopedic footwear focus on?

In my practice Diabetes is the number one disease that causes the most foot problems that need to be addressed with Custom Made Orthopedic Footwear. The feet lose feeling as the nerves become affected, as well as a loss of circulation caused by Diabetes.

This can also cause ulcers because one can no longer feel what is happening in the feet, also significant structural changes to the feet occur that require accommodating footwear.

Polio used to be the number one reason for needing orthopedic shoes but it is now near the bottom of the list. Cerebral Palsy, CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth disease) and Muscular Dystrophy are diseases that significantly affect the feet and gait which can be helped a lot with orthopedic footwear.

Ectrodactyly is a disease that affects the way that the foot develops, the feet and hands often develop to look like lobster claws.
