Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Is acupuncture painful?

Acupuncture is a technique which consists of inserting and manipulating very fine needles into acupuncture points located on different parts of the Healthy Body, for therapeutic purposes. The needles are sterile, disposable and very tiny. The diameter of the needles ranges from 0.2 mm to 0.3 mm and up. There is a little sensation when the needle is inserted but it quickly dissipates ones the needle is in place.

For people who are extremely sensitive, special needles coated with silicone, allowing extra smooth insertion, can be used.

Needles can also be completely eliminated in acupuncture treatments and replaced by acupressure or suction cups or micro-current stimulation of the acupuncture points.
