Are you wearing the wrong size bra?

Have you ever been fitted for a bra? If your answer is no, you are not alone.

Following a few easy bra-fitting steps can make or break an outfit. Are you ready to get sized up?

Step 1:  Determine If You’re Wearing the Right Size
Examine your bra while on your body and see if there are any visible flaws. These may include underwire that pokes out on the side, a band that rides up your back or straps that slip. Wrinkles in the cups are also indicative of the wrong size bra. If your bra is cutting into your back, it is too tight and should also measured to determine the right size.

Step 2: Measure the Band Size
Now that you’ve determined you are wearing the wrong size bra, it’s time to get whipped into shape. Measure around the bottom of the band, just under your bust area. The tape measure should be held snug and if between numbers, round to the nearest whole number.

Step 3: Measure the Bust Size
Now loosely drape the tape measure across the area (where it is the fullest), just over the nipples. Round the number up or down to the nearest whole number. You should not see the tape measure making an indent on the bust line, but keep the measuring tape loose.

Step 4: Make Some Calculations for the Cup Size
You don’t have to hold a degree in mathematics to determine your cup size, but some basic math is needed. Simply subtract the band size from the bust measurement and refer to the chart offered from the bra website or store. If your bust is 37 inches and the band size is 34 inches, there is a 3-inch difference. The bra size would be a 34C. Typically a zero difference is an AA cup size, a one inch difference is an A cup, and so on.

Most lingerie or department stores offer bra specialists who are on hand to help measure your bust line and determine what size bra is best for you. The procedure is painless and could save you money in the long run.
