Do you ever have days when your energy is low?. Like most people, you may have insanely busy days, a full schedule, or are suffering from lack of sleep and when that energy slump strikes mid-afternoon it just doesn’t help.

5 Tips to get an “Energy Boost”

Here are some ways to put a spring back into your step even on the days when you feel dog-tired.

1. Drink more water.
Dehydration causes fatigue, so keep your Healthy Body hydrated throughout the day. Caffeine can jumpstart your Healthy Body initially but too much, and you’ll see your energy levels plummet as it spikes blood sugars (even when black) and stresses out your liver. Start your day with a glass of water, and keep in mind that coffee is dehydrating. How you can tell?
Stick out your tongue…you should see a wet shiney reflection over the entire tongue as if you are looking into a lake…not pasty dry spots.

2. Stretch

Regular stretching not only keeps your muscles and tendons healthy, it also maintains a free flow of oxygenated blood to your most vital organs making it an excellent way to increase vigor in your life.
Tight muscles pinch off the channels/vessels that your red blood cells travel down to carry the oxygen making it very hard for your Healthy Body’s cells to properly get all the life giving oxygen it needs.

3. Get a whiff of citrus.
The smells of oranges, lemons and grapefruit have beenshown to be energizing, so drop a slice or two into your water. Lemon in your water kick starts both phases of liver detoxification also…and you need an efficient liver to feel refreshed when you wake up in the morning!
You can also incorporate citrus-infused shampoos and Healthy Body washes into your showers. For a quick midday refresher, get a whiff or two of citrus-scented essential oils.

4. Listen to music

Plug in that ipod and take a few minutes to listen to your favourite music and inspirational speakers. Put together a personalized soundtrack that you can listen to while getting ready in the morning, during the morning drive to the office or to tune out to when you need a midday recharge. Music can sharpen our mental focus and boost our moods.

5. Hang out with friends who cheer you.

Co-workers, friends and family make the good times great and the bad times bearable. Even just chatting with the postman or the barista can help boost our energy levels and power you through to lunch. We are meant to help each other, so talking to someone in sincere interest with a genuine smile will come back to you in a positive and energized way.
Don’t waste time with energy vampires. Be polite and in your mind wish the very best for those people that you simply feel drained after hanging out with….but don’t spend a second of your precious time with them any longer…you have too many important things to accomplish and to do for the world to let one person hold back your efficiency!
