This will be the first of our weekly blogs. Trying to come up with an idea for the first blog was a bit difficult. We wanted it to be captivating, engaging, honest and inspiring. That’s a tall order. We decided to focus on our clinic motto, which you will see written in big letters on the wall of our waiting room- Move Better. Feel Better. Stand Tall.
Dr. Carter, and I both studied at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. We lived near the beach in a place called Manly, and on the beachfront there were these really tall Norfolk pine trees. Every morning, people would be out running, surfing, walking their dogs, going to their favourite coffee shops and riding their bikes. When we moved back to Canada, we really missed that active community feel. We knew from experience that the more you move, the better you feel.
On top of helping individual patients through our adjustments, we wanted to help the community as a whole achieve higher levels of fitness, both physical and mental. We came up with our clinic motto as a way of demonstrating our ultimate goal.
We aim to be leaders in the community, enabling people to get outside and get active. We strive to inspire by example, by participating in local races and taking advantage of the outdoor activities that Winnipeg has to offer.
Here are some of the things we’ve been working on to help motivate and inspire:
- Ski club
- Canoe club
- Leading a free outdoor workout group once a week: November Project
- Participating in local running races
- Getting out and exploring on the weekends, helping a friend with a blog on outdoor adventures in and around Winnipeg: check out – https://runskiexplore.wordpress.com
