Nail Care is a way of maintaining the health of your feet, it also serves various health purposes as well as cosmetic reasons. Good toenail care can prevent the formation of fungus infections, growth of painful ingrown fingernails, and skin infections in feet.
These are the procedures done by the chiropodist to maintain health and avoid possible fungus and skin infections in the feet.
Foot Corn Removal - Corns are round areas of thickened skin on your toes and feet that develop due to repeated pressure on the skin, caused by the rubbing of your toes against the interior of your shoe. Generally, calluses form on the bottom of your feet or toes, while corns form on the top or between the toes.
One of the common foot issues is callus formation in different areas of the feet. Pressure and friction from repetitive actions cause corns and calluses to develop and grow.
Treatment for fungus infection found on nails that have the following physiological and physical manifestations: nail discolouration, distortion and thickening of nails, pain and discomfort, and crumbly or brittle nails.
A procedure is done to remove the growth of ingrown toenail to alleviate pain and stabbing pain on the feet. An ingrown toenail occurs when the nail edge is damaged, and the nail no longer fits properly into the side groove. The nail curls downward and digs into the skin, causing pain, swelling, redness, and drainage. Sometimes a piece of the nail (called a lateral pointing spicule) becomes embedded in the side tissue, and the tissue becomes heaped up (hypertrophied). Infection may also develop in the toe.
This is one of many forms of toenail care to help patients keep their feet healthy by doing procedures to maintain feet health.
A foot medical treatment that uses ultrasound technology to treat plantar fasciitis and soft tissue problems found in the foot.
A type of physical therapy that deals with the treatment of any sports injury that affects the foot of the patient. It is designed to minimise joint restriction and maintain fitness level.
Shockwave Therapy is a relatively new form of treatment in the fields of orthopaedic and rehabilitation medicine.
The primary effect of a shockwave is a direct mechanical force as the wave's energy passes through tissue. These waves cause a controlled impact on the tissue being treated. This results in a biological reaction within the cells of that tissue (inflammation), which triggers the body to accelerate its natural healing response and increase blood flow to the injured site.
