Therapeutic Massage & Deep Tissue Massage

Stress disrupts the equilibrium of all normal body functions and is the most common health problem people experience today. Massage can reduce the discomfort felt in your muscles through a hands-on approach which helps to change the muscular imbalances which may cause your pain and stiffness. Therapeutic Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue by moving the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. The techniques used have numerous benefits on many body systems. The known effects include: relaxation, improved circulation and relief of muscle tension. As massage therapy has grown in popularity in the West, there have been new links made to the connection between touch and general health.

A typical massage session is 45 to 60 minutes long. Before your first massage treatment you will be asked to fill out a health status form to let your therapist know your health concerns and any local or general contraindications to massage. An assessment related to your condition will be performed and may consist of muscle and range of motion testing, postural analyses, orthopaedic tests and palpations. The therapist will explain the treatment plan for the session, outline the areas of the body to be massaged and how you should position yourself on the table. You will be asked for consent to the assessment and treatment. During the treatment, you will be draped with a sheet. You may choose to be completely or partially unclothed under this drape. Oil or lotion may be used as a lubricant and the only part of the body to be uncovered is the part being

Myofascial Release (MFR)

MFR is a form of sustained stretching that has an effect on the fascia. Fascia is a tough connective tissue that forms a tree-dimensional web surrounding every tissue and organ of the body. (See the picture). Poor posture, dehydration, physical injury, inflammation, illness, or even emotional stress can lead to adhesions or restrictions in the fascial system. Read more...

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Lymphatic Massage

MLD is a form of massage that can be used to support your lymphatic system or treat conditions resulting from its failure. During the MLD session the therapist applies gentle stretches to the lymph vessels and initiates contractions, which squeeze the lymph and move it through lymphatic pathways. This technique has a decongestive and analgesic effect.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy is a time when the body is going through major physical, physiological and psychological changes. As the pregnancy progresses, postural changes can lead to discomfort in hips and pelvis, spine and feet as well as shoulders and neck. Headaches, interrupted sleep patterns and extra water retention, causing inflammation and poor circulation, may exacerbate these symptoms as will the additional stress of carrying and caring for this new life. Despite all the discomfort, with proper nutrition, exercise, sleep, and body care, this period will also be the most joyous in a woman’s life.

Massage therapy can address the major discomforts experienced during pregnancy and can help recover faster from the delivery, both on a physical and a psychological level by improving the recovery of muscles and other tissues and by getting the woman in contact with her body again, thus, reducing the incidence of postpartum depression.

Sports Therapy

Many athletes and coaches are turning to registered massage therapists for help during practice, competition or rehabilitation. Regardless of the sport or physical activity, sports massage is ideal for improving agility, flexibility and overall performance, and reducing injuries, in high performance athletes as well as every-day people trying to stay fit. By focusing on target areas, sports massage can help to increase the range of motion of specific joints, release muscle restrictions that cause discomfort, and increase tissue elasticity of surrounding soft-tissue. Venus Freeze delivers non-surgical body contouring, skin tightening as well as wrinkle and cellulite reduction.
The unique combination (MP)² of multi-polar radio frequency (RF) and pulsed magnetic fields (PMF) achieves optimum results by penetrating deeply and safely into the skin, creating a warm, relaxing sensation during the treatment.
[(MP)2 modifies the structure of collagen fibres, making them thicker and shorter, thus, increasing skin tightness. It also promotes the synthesis of new collagen fibres and elastin.

The procedure is safe and pain-free and can be applied to the face, neck and body. It takes only 30 to 40 minutes per session and requires no down time, allowing you to resume your daily activities immediately after each treatment.
Venus Freeze has been licensed by Health Canada for temporary reduction of cellulite and for skin tightening. Read more...

Do Not Fear the Needles!

Acupuncture is a technique which consists of inserting and manipulating very fine needles into acupuncture points located on different areas of the body, for therapeutic purposes. Acupuncture aims to restore health and well-being and treats pain and imbalances in the body. Sterile, disposable needles are inserted to different depths on the skin and are turned or left in place for 15-30 minutes. Read more...

Jennifer Ouellette has always been creative with an eye for the perfect harmony. This led her to aesthetics and Majestany Institute from which she graduated in 2012 as an aesthetician.  From acne to anti-aging treatments, spa facials and relaxation massages, manicure and pedicure, brow and lash tinting as well as waxing, Jennifer loves what she does and aims at enhancing the natural beauty in all of us. Jennifer is a member of the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick and is upgrading her skills in medical aesthetics. Keeping with her general philosophy, Jennifer only uses natural and hypoallergenic products in her treatments.

Pierre Wust has always loved to work with his hands; from kneading dough to make pies, toiling with wood to build shelves or playing with soil to take care of plants. So when it came to choosing a new career after 20 years as a chemistry technologist, massage therapy was a natural choice, especially since it combined his love of manual labour with the satisfaction of creating a sense of wellbeing in people by bringing them relief and relaxation. Pierre graduated from the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage 2200-h massage therapy programme in 2005 and started to work at Myoflex in December 2006. He took some additional courses in pregnancy massage as well as Thai Hot Stem massage and ETPS. Pierre is a member of the Association of New Brunswick Massage Therapists and has been volunteering for this Association first as Secretary, then as President.
