Good question! There is no yes or no answer, some orthotics are so minimally made that they will fit in any shoe, even pumps....BUT those are also not going to have the ability to affect the feet as an orthotic that is bulkier and will only fit in shoes like runners, winter boots or work boots, and some orthotics are even bulkier because they need to provide more cushion or apply greater forces on the foot to help align the foot and in those cases one would need to have a therapeutic shoes that will leave enough room for the orthotics and the feet.
