Updating Your HealthLocal.ca Page

Well spring is still springing in to action so I thought this week, we'd talk about your HealthLocal.ca profile. Don't have one yet? HealthLocal.ca has over 60,000 health professionals and growing from across Canada with profiles. If you are a health professional in Canada, you are going to want to have a page on HealthLocal.ca. Why? Because HealthLocal.ca has its own following of 220,000 visitors a month.

My last post was about doing a spring clean-up on your online presence. Well spring is still springing in to action so I thought this week, we’d talk about your HealthLocal.ca profile. Don’t have one yet? HealthLocal.ca has over 60,000 health professionals and growing from across Canada with profiles. If you are a health professional in Canada, you are going to want to have a page on HealthLocal.ca. Why? Because HealthLocal.ca has its own following of 220,000 visitors a month. If you already have a profile on HealthLocal.ca – thank you! I’d like to offer you some spring cleaning tips to keep your profile in top shape. Here are the most important things to update on your HealthLocal.ca page and why!

So login now and update your page. If you forget your password, click on “Forgot Password” and a new one will be sent to you. Once you are logged into your dashboard, click on my businesses and then edit, now you are in, here are all my tips to get great value from your HealthLocal.ca page. Services

All services and staff information go in your “About Us” section on your dashboard. Click here to see

Let’s say over the last few months you have been busy adding new services or products that are now available at your facility. A good way to build your clientele is to show people how innovative you are and how you try to anticipate their needs. You want to be very clear about what your services or products are and you can do this by adding detailed descriptions. Why? Because the more information you have in your description, the more information there is for people to find. If it is not there….it will not show up when people are searching for it.

Staff

Updating your staff pictures and bio’s is very important – especially if you have staff changes. Take the time to get nice pictures taken. Even a friends’ camera beats a selfie any day. This is the first time people will see you and your staff’s faces so it needs to be well lit, well focused, with a clear background and a nice outfit or all staff wearing the same colour. It shows you are a team and work together. If a picture is worth a thousand words, you want all yours to be all positive!

With the staff bio’s it’s important to tell the story of the practitioner with details like: how did they end up being in their field? What is their passion? Their expertise? There is a lot of space available to add this information, so add it.

Pictures

I always suggest to have a picture of the front of your facility. This makes it easier for new clients when coming to see you for the first time. It’s also about curb appeal: just like when you are house hunting, if it looks good and welcoming, you want to go in. If your curb appeal is not the greatest, you can alternatively add pictures of the inside of the facility and anything else that is key to your business like special machines or products. If you don’t have any photos right now, you can use Istock photos that represent what you do. Remember that thousand word saying? It can be worth thousands of dollars too.

To add a picture go to the top of your dashboard just under your business name there is a tab called Image Gallery, click there and start to upload your pictures.

Videos

Videos are important, as it’s so easy to tell your story in a video. Here is a great example of what one of our customers has recently done click here. It tells the story of the business and really introduces the practitioners within the facility. You can also have videos about certain services you offer or how to use the products you carry. This is a great way to get the word out and to share information about your business. Also videos are great for social media, as they can be shared on Facebook and Twitter fast and easily.

To add a video go to the top of your dashboard just under your business name there is a tab called Youtube Videos, click there and start to add the links to your videos.

Logo

To add a business image, click on the browse button under the Facebook field and above your business overview. Do you have a new logo or have you changed your business name? It is important to keep consistent with your branding. If you do not have a logo, you can use the picture of the front of your facility, or if you are a sole proprietor, a professional picture of you would be great. But remember what I was telling you about pictures, be professional.

Hours

This is in the “Hours of operations field” in your dashboard just below the About Us section. I am always so surprised about how many people forget to add their business hours. You know when you have to show up but your new clients need to know when you will be there. List your main office hours and those of each practitioner if you have multiple and offer different schedules.

Special Offers

Under the marketing message field on your dashboard, is a great place to add a marketing message or special offer. Like if you offer free consultations, or 30% off of products. It is so easy to login to HealthLocal.ca that you can change this each month/week if you like.

I am not sure if you got the news about Google penalizing all websites that are not mobile friendly. So if your website has not gone mobile as yet, do not sweat it. Your HealthLocal.ca page is! More of a reason to make sure it is updated.
